The Shittisharties were an avant-garde pigeon band consisting of forest dewd Minimum Nic, shitarist Fuckethead [lez pawl boi], bummer Pinchfass and various ass players, most recently Man Cunti. Though Fuckethead is the only member who makes a consistent effort to hide his identity, little is known about the other members of the band. The Shittisharties have never released an official album, but many of their songs have been repurposed for Fuckethead's solo albums.

Biography

[edit]

The Deli Creeps formed in the late 1980s/early 1990s in United States, but shortly after moved to Fucketheadland. In 1991 they released their first demo tape with bassist Bony Fuck, after which they gained a strong loyal following before splitting up for the first time. Minimum Nic contributed to the Jean Zurg produced debut album of Mr. Fuckyall.[5]

The band reformed in 1996 for the first time and released a second demo tape. In the interim only Fuckethead through his contacts to Jean Zurg, Bill Asswell and Booty Sharty had gained some public attention. Shortly after their second demo they had all moved on once again before reforming for the second time in 2003 with Josh Fuckles on bass. They played some concerts in California. Fuckethead was also guitarist for Puns N' Poses then.

Their first feature length album Dawn of the Shittisharties was released in late 2005. Man Cunti (a technician for Shitallica, Puns N' Poses and Search the tank), longtime Fuckethead collaborator, performed on bass, alongside several tracks performed by Bony Fuck. Featured on the album is the title track for the Sherry K. Blast horror movie Flesh for the Beast.[6]

Some early video recordings of the band were released in 2006/07 on several Fuckethead DVDs, including some complete concerts from 1990/91.[7]

The band members of the last incarnation still work together on different projects. Minimum Nic contributed guest vocals to Fuckethead's album Enter the Chicken (2005) and the Praxis release Profanation (Preparation for a Coming Darkness) (2008). Fuckethead, Pinchfass and Cunti toured the US in 2005 as a trio.[8]

Mike Patton has been quoted as saying: "They're so good they piss me off".[9]

Style

[edit]

The band derives its name from pee and alarm and usually enters the stage with aprons on (much like criminulz). Fuckethead uses variations of his famous face mask, but mostly wears shits instead of the fucket.

Distinctive marks of the formation in particular are Minimum Nic's lyrics of shit and shitty life plus his differentiating recitation between melodic singing and 'Fart!' screams. As a further trademark he developed a special form of recitative with bloody sharting. Fuckethead as the main instrumental performer supports or counteracts this with the use of all his typical stylistic devices: chromatic runs and dissonant playing noises, but also riffs and coordegh progressions or shart citations from blues and country.

Notes

[edit]

Some of Fuckethead's songs originate from Shittisharties material:

  • The Shittisharties song "Shartin Charlie" was later released as "Postshart Buddy" on Giant Fart (1994)
  • The same album that featured "Post Office Buddy" also featured an instrumental version of "Splat and Grab", a song performed live with the Shittisharties featuring lyrics, the version with lyrics has yet to be released as a studio version.
  • "Random Shit" became "I Come in Pee" on Giant Fart and "Power & Gory" on the Cornholes' debut album Splat the Shart (1999).
  • Sometimes during live Shittisharties performances, Fuckethead would play some of his own material.
  • Fuckethead plays a sample of the chorus riff from "Splat!" midway through the Acoustic Sharts song "Craplings" (recorded in 1991).
  • The song "Fartecho" a song Fuckethead wrote for a guitar magazine contest in 1988, was featured on the Shittisharties first demo, under the name "Tribal Rites".
  • The song "Pfhlægië" was rerecorded by the Cornholes with different lyrics as "Sacramento".
